  • Movie Night – Im planning a movie night for me and the kids with popcorn using our new popcorn machine. Nachos, Pizza and milkshakes.
  • Garden Centre Visit – When my nan was alive we used to have trips to all the garden centres around us looking at the christmas displays and inevitably coming home with bags of stuff that i dint really need!
  • Baking – Id like to get in the kitchen with the kids this half term, things im thinking of include carrot cake, Chocolate apples, pizza whirls and more.

12 Weeks to Christmas – Days Out!

Good Evening,

It’s Sunday which means its time for another Christmas Post

Today Is a list of Christmas themed days out that will get you in a festive mood.

img_0289-2

  • Nene Valley Railway – Santa Special  – We went to this a couple of years ago and have booked it again this year! Before you board the train you visit santa and get a gift. Once the train arrives its time to board.  On the trip santa visits all the carriages and asks what the children want for Christmas. There are elves that give out sweets to all the children. There are drinks on board for the adults too!
  • Hyde Park Winter Wonderland  – I keep seeing this advertised and think it would be an amazing day out for us all.
  • Lincolnshire Festive Food & Gift Fair – I’ve just booked my tickets to this. It looks like a great day for the whole family. New this year is santas workshop which includes christmas story telling craft activities and a visit from santa. There is also stalls for mummy to look around. lots of food to sample as well as the Lincolnshire Kitchen where there will be demonstrations to give us inspiration for the festive period.
  • Santa, Elves and Sleigh Bells at Tropical Butterfly House From December 17th – Christmas eve there will be a magical sleigh ride through the woods as well as a nativity scene and crafts to do. Also throughout December they are hosting Festive Afternoon Tea’s – This has to be pre booked so I best get that done!
  • Lincoln Christmas Market  – The first weekend of December is one of the  biggest festive markets in the country. I think this will be a day out with the girls rather than with the family. It can get very busy and there is a lot of walking to do! So a day out while the kids are at school I think!
  • Stockeld Park The Christmas Adventure – We went here with my step son years ago. There is nordic skiing through the woods, with displays all around, A festive maze, An ice rink and a visit from the big man himself.
  • Sundown Adventureland Christmas Spectacular – This little theme park hosts an amazing christmas ride every year its such a magical ride for the kids and ends at Santa’s living room where you can tell him what you want on the big day and receive a gift. throughout the park are lots of rides suitable for little ones. There is also angry birds themed area.

I’m really looking forward to spending some quality days out with the kids since they started school full-time ive missed our weekly days out to different places.

Do you have a Festive days out post why not link it up below!

  2. Letters to Santa – When I was young I would write my letter to santa and then we would use magic dust and put it in the fire-place where is would whoosh up the chimney and then to santa’s desk!
  3.  Christmas Crafts – I have an extensive collection of pinterest pins for Christmas crafts to do with the kids. I’m looking forward to creating things with them this year.

  7. Christmas Photo Shoot – This year I would like to take some festive photos for christmas cards to send to family! – We didn’t do it last year!
  8. Choose a real Tree – In the Village next to us there is a little tree farm I visited with a friend last year. Each year I’ve said I’d like a real tree I think this year is the year!
  9. Game Night – We have loads of games name that tune, rapidough, scene it, but we never play them anymore. I would like to invite a few friends over put away the phones order some pizza and have a game night.
  10. Trim the tree This year my plan is to let the kids decorate a little on a weekend and then re trim while they are at school.
  11. Baking – I love mince pies and there is nothing more festive than a kitchen smelling of mincemeat. along with these last year I made cranberry muffins and mini christmas cake bites. Yummy 1508188_10152372685571326_6292729507167363877_n.jpg
  12. Christmas Cards – As J & M are now writing their own names I’m going to spend some time helping them to fill out cards for their friends.

12 Weeks of Christmas Series

Wicked Wednesday

Wicked Wednesday – Its too Far, My legs are tired!

This weekend we headed out to a local event. It was in the nearby village.

About 45 mins walk away.

It wasn’t that cold so we decided to walk.

We had gone about half a mile when J decided it was too far!

We pushed him to go a bit further and eventually he picked up pace.

Then we arrived at a field with a footpath running through!

He was not happy!img_0311

We were lagging behind the rest  img_0306But we got there in the end!

And as soon as he saw the candy Floss he was happy enough.

When It was time to go home we set off walking .We walked past a pub and M said “I know mummy we will go for juice here and you can ring Nanny to pick us up!”

“Do you know what M Thats not a bad idea.”

Well if you cant beat them!

Screen Free Weekends

Screen Free Tuesday – Im not feeling It!

Good morning everyone.

text-1

I have been sat here about an hour now

I have no inspiration to write.

Not about this topic anyways!

I really thought this linky would encourage me to live more screen conscious.

I truth we are living much more screen free as I engage in the children’s play more and we don’t have tv on in the background as much.

I have banned screens on school mornings so that we are all less distracted!

In the evenings I have stopped I pads at least an hour before bed time!

You know what I do feel a lot better

My next challenge is for me to not pick up my phone as soon as I wake.

So in a way this linky has worked a little.

But I’m just not feeling it anymore.

I feel panicked about giving you guys a good post then end up waffling like I’m doing now!

So I think I will be putting the linky to rest!

I gave it a go.

I am going to use the time to concentrate more on my youtube channel & other blog posts

Thanks for listening to my waffle

Topsy & Tim Back to school book *Review*

If I remember back to my school days I remember some of my favourite books were the Topsy & Tim books.

I even had twin dolls.

So when I was blessed with my very own Topsy & Tim I started them watching the series on TV and bought any books I could find!

A few weeks ago I was contacted to ask if I would like to review a copy of the Topsy and Tim learning books from Ladybird. I jumped at the chance.

20161001_151930.jpg

My twins started full time school in September and they are currently starting work on a phonics program called read write inc.

When I picked up these books to go through them with my two I was pleased to see they actually work hand in hand with their school work.

The first spellings book is great for handwriting as well as learning sounds.

J is not normally interested in writing but even he found this book fun. He even sounded out some of the words I thought he may struggle with.

It’s a great little book and it’s wipe clean so both children could have a go and they can do it over and over again!

The Topsy & Tim first words book has a little more advanced words in than we can recognize  at the moment but we still had fun sticking in the stickers.

M enjoys learning and loved guessing words by the first couple of letters.

The books are designed in a way that school children can relate to when first starting school. Within them are activities revolving around getting dressed, starting school and making friends. Daily school routines like lunch & lining up!

In the package we also received a Peppa Pig book – Peppa Pig – Going Swimming.

The book is designed for children just starting to read.  There are a few words that the children can sound out and a few words mine knew anyway like mummy & daddy.

All the Topsy and Tim books can be found online at https://www.penguin.co.uk

There is also a Topsy and Tim start school app that can be found in the App Store.

If your little ones are starting school soon or have just started I would recommend these books.

I was sent the books in exchange for a review. All the opinions however are my own.
